Lack of Vocabulary Used.

Tom Nicholson has made a great point in the article “Vocabulary on decline due to fewer books.” As technology continues to grows, we all have our tendencies to seek talent rather than grabbing a book to read. He explains that importance of having a well balanced vocabulary known in using it towards getting a job, writing research papers, and continuously using a dictionary and thesaurus as our best friend.
In my perspective, I truly think that we all ignore the value of a dictionary and thesaurus especially since we have internet access to the internet on our handhelds and computers. With technology continuously growing, I believe that technology can make its turn to reach out to all of us expanding the way we use words. A great example of that is the iPAD.

Importance of Compassionate Parenting.

The article about children’s distant foster morality made me think about the importance of being cared for as an infant. In one of my other courses this semester relates to this article in a way where a child should not be neglected at a young age. It was described in this article clearly. If a child does not have great support of caregivers, their future leads into a place where they are don’t care much of other people or things; they are egotistical. The importance of learning, having dreams of the future, containing such personality has to do with one’s parenting. Without a strong loving and compassionate care, a child’s moral behavior on life decreases over time.

Innocence of Children and Teenagers.

Agree or disagree; many of us think that children and teenagers have the most innocent personality. After reading an article sent from my anthropology professor titled “The kids aren't all right,” my perspective of children and teenagers today is a bit unclear. This article talked about how children can get depressed at a young age of 8 or less. For the most part, I’ve always thought children do not go through much pain or are unhappy with their self. It also described how at a child’s young age of the depressed event or stage gets affected more when they enter high school. Why is that??
I remember my high school days being fun; not having to worry about being in a wrong clique or getting into trouble with drugs. But now, our world, our society makes it easier to get children, teenagers, and young adults into having drugs in their life- abusing themselves. It’s awful to see how our society has been becoming corrupted in ways that a child’s innocence is no longer there. Saying bad words at a young age was bad enough I thought. But for a child being brought up in a depressed state upsets me.

First Week of School.

Dear Blog,
Being back in school this fall semester has started off great. I'm actually enjoying all my courses as well as my professors. One of them is an anthropology course and that is the reason why I have created a blogspot. My professor in this particular course is very enthusiastic and with all the topics that we've talked about on our first day of class was very interesting. A word that made me think about a lot while the class was going on is the word ‘Pono’. It’s weird because I used to use call my friend from church ‘Pono’ as an inside joke. I didn’t ever think about what it meant. And being from Hawai’i I should have already known. In actuality, I didn’t. My Professor went on and talked about what it meant; “The word Pono means to do what is right.” While thinking about it hard, I tried to analyze if I was being pono or the things that I’m doing in life are pono, are right. As I write more in here, I hope that I can comtemplate more on what is right not only in myself but in others around me; especially to what is happening in the world. And I’ll challenge myself to also be able to speak up for what is pono
Always,
